Antique French cotton fabric, probably from the last quarter of 1700s measuring 39 inches wide by 26 inches. Off white ground with sprigs and flowers in brown, red, and blue. This was a museum deascension and has an catalog tag on the back "Toile de Jouy- Pillement Design". Toile de Jouy can refer to any fabric made in the town of Jouy-en-Josas, France. Pillement Design probably refers to Jean Baptist Pillement, a French artist, who in the later part of his life, design for the textile market.
This fabric is over 200 years old, and a true treasure. The condition is only fair. There are holes, spots, and a split by an edge. But the true width is intact, from selvage edge to selvage edge (39 inches).
