Antique Irish Chain quilt, circa 1850s, measuring 72 by 93 inches. Each block is about 12 by 12 inches. Fabrics are a white solid cotton, a pink cotton print, sometimes a pink check, and a blue cotton print. Hand pieced, with the corner squares hand appliqued. Hand quilted at 8 spi on a diagonal with a flowers created with concentric circles in a double line quilted frame in the solid center. White cotton quarter inch binding, on grain. White cotton backing and there is a thin cotton batting. In the top right corner are finely executed in red cross stitch the initials M.M. In good condition, some discolorations along the edges.
